| Aanvullende informatie |
The Francescone was Tuscany's principal silver denomination throughout the Restoration period, its name derived from Francesco II of Lorraine, who had introduced the coin type in the eighteenth century. Leopoldo II — who ruled the Grand Duchy from 1824 until he was forced to abdicate during the revolutions of 1848 — maintained the denomination as a deliberate act of continuity with his Lorraine predecessors, distinguishing Florentine monetary tradition from the Napoleonic-era disruptions that had briefly standardized much of the peninsula on French lines.
The C#75a designation distinguishes this emission from related varieties by die details specific to the 1833–1841 window. MIR 448 notes minor variation in the shield rendering across the run.
