| Obverse description | Seated allegorical figure of Marianne, personification of the French Republic, depicted in three-quarter view facing left upon a lion-headed throne. She wears a winged helmet and a draped classical robe, holding an upraised torch in her right hand and resting her left arm upon a cornucopia overflowing with fruit and wheat. A stone tablet inscribed with the law is visible in the right field behind her. The engraver's signature G.B.BAZOR appears in the lower right field, and the date 1965 is incused in the exergue flanked by decorative ornaments. The legend REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE curves along the left and right periphery. |
