Obverse description Allegorical female bust in left profile, her hair adorned with a wheat ear and flowing locks interwoven with floral and foliate sprigs, in the style of Belgian coinage of the period. The truncation rests on a small plinth bearing the engraver's signature RAU in the lower field. Two five-pointed stars flank the date 1961, which appears vertically along the left field. The design is the work of engraver Marcel Rau and closely mirrors the contemporary Belgian franc coinage.
