| Obverse description | Octagonal brass token with a beaded inner border following the eight-sided perimeter. The entire field is occupied by the issuer's name arranged in five horizontal lines of bold raised lettering: SOCIETE / ANONYME / DE LA / GRANDE COMORE, with a small central dot separating the upper and lower groupings. The plain, unadorned field and absence of any figurative device give the design a strictly utilitarian character typical of French colonial emergency token coinage. |
