| 背面描述 | The Grimaldi arms — a lozenge-patterned shield of fusily in bend argent and gules — occupies the central field, surmounted by the princely crown of Monaco rendered in elaborate detail with fleurs-de-lis, crosses, and beaded arches. To the left of the shield, the denomination 1 FR is inscribed in two lines, with the word ESSAI placed above between the numeral and the currency abbreviation. The motto DEO JUVANTE arcs along the upper periphery, accompanied by a small cross pattee at its apex. The mint mark of the Monnaie de Paris appears at the lower left field. |

Piéforts are institutional pieces — struck at double or greater thickness on specially prepared planchets, distributed to archives, assay offices, and favored collectors rather than circulation. This gold example is an exception to the usual silver piéfort practice at the Monnaie de Paris, making it considerably rarer than the silver essai of the same type. The 1960 date places it in the early years of Monaco's post-war monetary relationship with France, when Monégasque franc issues were struck under agreement with Paris and were legal tender in both jurisdictions.
Fewer than a handful of examples are typically traceable at auction across decades of sales records.
