| Opmerkingen |
Lodelinsart's glass industry had been central to the Charleroi basin since the nineteenth century, and the Nouvelle Union Verrière was one of its principal concerns. When the German occupation disrupted Belgian monetary circulation after 1914, many industrial firms in Hainaut issued their own emergency scrip to pay workers — the occupiers had drained coin from circulation almost immediately, leaving factories with no practical means of meeting weekly wages.
J. Delacre & Fils were a local Charleroi printer, not a specialist banknote house, which shows in the modest production values typical of occupation-period industrial bons.
