Obverse description Bare-headed effigy of Prince Louis II in left-facing profile, rendered in high relief against a plain field. The truncation of the bust is cleanly cut, with the engraver's signature L. MAUBERT incised below. The circular legend reads LOUIS II PRINCE DE MONACO, positioned along the upper and lower periphery within a beaded border.

Reverse description The crowned and mantled coat of arms of Monaco occupies the central field, flanked on either side by the numeral 1, denoting the face value. The arms display the characteristic lozengy pattern of the Grimaldi dynasty, supported by two monks and surmounted by the princely crown. Below the shield, the legend 1 FRANC appears in large characters, with the word ESSAI inscribed beneath in smaller lettering, all contained within a beaded border.
