Monaco's 1943 coinage was struck under the reign of Louis II but produced in France during the German occupation — a period when metal allocation was tightly controlled by Vichy authorities. Aluminium bronze was sanctioned for minor coinage precisely because strategic metals were being siphoned elsewhere. The arrangement left Monaco's monetary production effectively dependent on French mint capacity and German industrial priorities simultaneously.
KM#120 was struck at the Paris Mint, identifiable by its cornucopia privy mark.
