| Opis rewersu | The reverse of this lead trial piece presents a deeply concave, bowl-shaped surface consistent with the plomb essai striking technique, in which excess lead has been displaced outward to form an irregular flanged rim with visible flow lines and surface striations. The central field is largely blank and heavily abraded, showing no discernible design elements, lettering, or devices, suggesting either that the reverse die was not engaged during this trial striking or that the impression was entirely absorbed by the soft lead substrate. The surface patina is a mottled grey-blue typical of aged lead, with scattered oxidation and handling marks throughout. |
