Reverse description The reverse displays a central rectangular cartouche enclosing the original emblem of the Institut National des Sciences et Arts, depicting a flaming torch bound with a fasces and flanked by serpents, symbolising knowledge and authority. Two large olive branches frame the central device on either side, their sprigs extending toward the upper field. The curved legend 'INSTITVT NATIONAL DES SCIENCES ET ARTS' surrounds the design, reading across the upper portion and down the sides. The founding date '1795' is prominently displayed in the lower centre, with the Republican motto 'LIBERTÉ - ÉGALITÉ - FRATERNITÉ' inscribed along the lower periphery.
