Obverse description Laureate and cuirassed bust of Henry III facing right, wearing a flat or folded-down ruff collar. The mint mark appears in the exergue beneath the bust. The Latin legend commences at approximately the 7 o'clock position (19 h) and reads HENRICVS III D G FRANC ET POL REX, identifying the king as Henry III, by the grace of God, King of France and Poland.
