| Obverse description | Standing allegorical figure of Marianne, helmeted and draped in classical robes, facing slightly left at centre, her right arm raised and her left hand resting on a large decorative shield. A stylised wing motif appears behind her left shoulder. The curved legend UNION FRANCAISE arcs above, while REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE curves along the lower periphery. The engraver's name A.RIVAUD appears in the field. The flat rim characteristic of this essai type is clearly visible. |
