| Reversbeschreibung | Central field dominated by the large numeral '1' set against a tropical landscape. To the left, tall coconut palm trees rise prominently, with a smaller palm at the base. To the right, a banana tree with a hanging bunch of fruit and a cluster of coconuts are depicted at lower right, alongside a low-roofed building. The legend ARCHIPEL DES COMORES arcs around the upper portion of the coin, while the denomination FRANC appears in a rectangular cartouche along the lower rim. |

| Zusätzliche Informationen |
The Comoro Islands were administered as a French overseas territory in 1964, and essais of this period were struck at the Paris Mint as trial pieces submitted for official approval before any circulation coinage was authorized. French colonial essais typically exist in very small quantities — often fewer than 1,700 pieces by convention — and were distributed primarily to collectors and monetary authorities rather than entering commerce. The archipelago would not become formally independent until 1975, meaning this piece predates the currency infrastructure of any sovereign Comorian state by over a decade.
