| Reverse description | Central device comprising a crescent moon, horns upward, surmounted by a seven-pointed star, both rendered in moderate relief against a plain, unadorned field. The crescent and star motif is a traditional heraldic symbol associated with the South Slavic lands. A circular legend in Latin script surrounds the central device, separated from the beaded inner border by a narrow band. The rim is finished with a continuous beaded border consistent with the obverse. |

Croatia's 1848 revolutionary government struck this forint during the brief window when Ban Josip Jelačić's administration was asserting autonomous authority amid the broader upheaval sweeping the Habsburg domains. The issue predates any formal monetary independence — Croatia remained embedded in the Habsburg fiscal system — making this an act of political assertion as much as practical coinage.
The X# reference prefix places it firmly in Krause's Unusual World Coins catalog, reflecting its status outside the mainstream imperial series. Very few were struck before Habsburg central authority reasserted control.
