Reverse description A great helm surmounted by a lion passant crest occupies the central field, rendered in the heraldic manner characteristic of Frankish Achaean coinage. This device served as the armorial emblem of the Princes of Achaea. The circumscribed legend in Latin uncial characters reads PRINCEPS ACHAIE ZC, proclaiming the ruler's title as Prince of Achaea. The design is executed in the hammered style with characteristic irregular flan and variable die alignment.
