Obverse description Facing right bust of István (Stephen) Bocskai, Prince of Transylvania, wearing a characteristic Hungarian fur-trimmed cap and a draped mantle, rendered in a bold hammered style typical of early 17th-century Transylvanian coinage. The mintmaster's initials C-V appear to the left of the portrait in the inner field. The surrounding Latin legend, divided by the bust, reads STEPHANVS D G PRINCEPS TRANSYLVANIAE C V, enclosed within a beaded border.
