正面描述 Armored bust of György Rákóczi II facing right, depicted in elaborate decorated plate armor with a fur-trimmed hat adorned with a feathered plume. The prince holds a scepter in his right hand. The legend is arranged around the bust, divided by the effigy, within a beaded border. The portrait is rendered in the vigorous Hungarian Renaissance style typical of mid-17th century Transylvanian gold coinage.

附加信息

György Rákóczi II inherited the Transylvanian throne in 1648 following his father's death and spent much of his reign pursuing disastrously overambitious foreign policy — most catastrophically his uninvited intervention in the Polish-Swedish war of 1655–1660. He invaded Poland in 1657 without Ottoman approval, a fatal miscalculation. The Porte responded by backing rival claimants, and Rákóczi was deposed, then killed at the Battle of Gyalu in 1660.

Florins struck under his name after 1657 were issued by a prince already losing his grip on power.
