| Beschrijving keerzijde | The Commonwealth of Australia's coat of arms occupies the central field, surmounted by the St Edward's Crown. The quartered shield displays the badges of the six states, supported by a kangaroo to the left and an emu to the right, both standing on a ground of native wattle branches. The denomination FLORIN appears in the upper legend flanking a small cross, with the mint engraver's initials K·G to the right of the shield, the date below the shield, and AUSTRALIA arching along the lower rim. A beaded border frames the entire design. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
The removal of "IND:IMP" — Indiae Imperator, Emperor of India — from the royal titles followed Indian independence in 1947 and the subsequent lapse of George VI's imperial title in 1948. Australian coins did not immediately reflect this; the older obverse dies continued in use, and the amended legend was not adopted until 1951, creating a brief two-year type before the king's death in February 1952 cut the series short.
Fewer than two full production years separates this type from its predecessor, making the without-IMP florin the scarcer of the George VI Australian issues by a considerable margin in higher grades.
