| Obverse description | Left-facing crowned effigy of King George V, depicted wearing the Imperial State Crown and royal robes adorned with ermine spots, with a star and decorative collar visible at the truncation. The portrait, engraved by Percy Metcalfe, is rendered in high relief with fine detail in the beard, facial features, and regalia. The circular legend reads GEORGE V KING EMPEROR, divided to either side of the portrait, in bold upright Latin lettering. A beaded inner border frames the design, with the milled edge visible beyond. The overall style is characteristic of the formal British royal portraiture of the interwar period. |
