Obverse description Left-facing crowned effigy of King George V, depicted in military uniform with decorations visible at the collar, engraved with fine detail by Percy Metcalfe. The Imperial State Crown sits prominently atop the King's head, rendered with elaborate filigree and jewel work. The portrait is set within a broad, open field framed by a continuous beaded border. The legend GEORGE V KING is inscribed to the left of the effigy and EMPEROR to the right, both reading upward along the coin's periphery in incuse Latin lettering.

Reverse description A naturalistically rendered kiwi bird, the iconic flightless symbol of New Zealand, is depicted in left profile, striding forward with its long curved beak inclined downward toward the ground line, the design executed with exceptional feather detail by George Kruger Gray. The bird occupies the central field, with a horizontal ground line beneath it. The legend NEW·ZEALAND arcs across the upper periphery, while the denomination ONE·FLORIN and the date, separated by raised dots, curve along the lower periphery. The engraver's initials KG appear in small letters to the lower right of the ground line, within the field. The entire design is enclosed by a beaded border.
