Obverse description Oval papal arms of Paul III (Farnese), charged with five fleurs-de-lis arranged in orle with a sixth in base, surmounted by the papal tiara and crossed keys of Saint Peter. The shield is set within a decorative cartouche in the centre of the field. The surrounding circular legend reads the pope's name and title in Latin, with pellet stops separating the words.
