1 Fils - Hussein

Jordan's small-denomination bronze coinage of this period was issued under Hussein bin Talal, who had ruled since 1952 and spent much of his reign navigating the economic fallout of the 1967 and 1973 wars with Israel. By the late 1970s, the fils denominations saw declining practical utility as inflation eroded their purchasing power — the 1 fils was effectively ceremonial in daily commerce well before this series ended in 1985.
