| Obverse description | Facing bust of Saint Peter depicted in high relief at center, rendered in a late medieval style characteristic of Baltic episcopal coinage; the saint is shown bearded and wearing ecclesiastical vestments, holding a key or staff as his attribute. Below the bust appears a quartered heraldic shield bearing the arms of the Bishopric of Dorpat, incorporating crosses and other charges in the quarters. A circular legend in uncial Latin characters surrounds the central devices, invoking the intercession of Saint Peter as patron of the see. The flan is irregular in outline, typical of hammered silver production of the early sixteenth century. |
