1 Fen Anhwei Regional Bank

The Anhwei Regional Bank was one of several provincial institutions established by the Nationalist government to handle local currency needs as Japanese military pressure on eastern China intensified through the mid-1930s. By the time this note was printed in 1937, Shanghai itself was months away from full Japanese occupation — the Dongya press would have been operating under conditions that deteriorated rapidly after the August fighting around the city.

Small-denomination fractional notes like this one circulated heavily and wore out fast. Surviving examples in any reasonable condition are genuinely uncommon for that reason alone.
