Additional information

Christiania has used its own internal exchange tokens since the 1970s, but the "Fed" series issued from the mid-2010s onward represents a more deliberate numismatic product aimed at collectors rather than internal barter. The community — occupying a former Danish military barracks in Copenhagen since 1971 — has operated in a legally ambiguous status for most of its existence, with the Danish government making several attempts to normalize or dissolve it, most recently resolved through a 2011 property purchase agreement that gave residents formal tenure.

X#62 places this squarely in the Unusual World Coins classification for non-governmental issues.
