Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of Queen Victoria facing left, the so-called 'Bun Head' effigy designed by Leonard Charles Wyon, with the hair gathered in a bun at the nape of the neck and secured with a ribbon. A wreath of laurel encircles the head. The peripheral legend reads VICTORIA D:G: BRITT:REG:F:D:, arranged along the coin's circumference. The portrait is rendered in high relief with fine detail characteristic of the early bronze coinage of the reign.

Reverse description Seated figure of Britannia facing right, depicted in classical robes, holding a trident upright in her left hand and resting her right hand on a shield bearing the Union flag. The denomination FARTHING appears in the upper field, and the date is placed in the exergue below. A portion of sea is visible behind Britannia, with a lighthouse to the left and a sailing ship to the right, elements that underscore Britain's maritime heritage. The design is enclosed by a toothed border on post-1860 issues.
