| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of Queen Victoria facing left, the so-called 'Bun Head' effigy designed by Leonard Charles Wyon, with the hair gathered in a bun at the nape of the neck and secured with a ribbon. A wreath of laurel encircles the head. The peripheral legend reads VICTORIA D:G: BRITT:REG:F:D:, arranged along the coin's circumference. The portrait is rendered in high relief with fine detail characteristic of the early bronze coinage of the reign. |

| Reverse description | Seated figure of Britannia facing right, depicted in classical robes, holding a trident upright in her left hand and resting her right hand on a shield bearing the Union flag. The denomination FARTHING appears in the upper field, and the date is placed in the exergue below. A portion of sea is visible behind Britannia, with a lighthouse to the left and a sailing ship to the right, elements that underscore Britain's maritime heritage. The design is enclosed by a toothed border on post-1860 issues. |
