| Beschrijving keerzijde | A long voided cross extending to the coin's periphery divides the reverse field into four quarters. In alternate quarters, a crown and a five-pointed mullet (star) are placed, forming the characteristic decorative scheme of James III Type III copper farthings. The arrangement of crown and mullet in opposing quarters is a diagnostic feature distinguishing this type. A peripheral legend in uncial Latin reads MONEPAVP, an abbreviated form of 'Moneta Pauperum' (Money of the Poor), referencing the coin's role as small change for everyday commerce. The flan is irregular and the strike weak in places, as is typical for hammered copper coinage of this reign. |
