| 正面描述 | This farthing, being a quarter-cut section of a penny die, presents the lower-right quadrant of Henry III's forward-facing crowned effigy in the uncial style characteristic of the Long Cross coinage. Visible within the fragment are partial elements of the king's sceptre to the left and the lower portion of the royal portrait, rendered in the bold, somewhat schematic manner typical of mid-13th century English hammered coinage. The surrounding legend, of which only a partial arc is preserved on this quarter-coin, reads HENRICVS REX III in uncial script, identifying the monarch. The flan is irregular and slightly convex, consistent with the hand-hammered production technique of the period. |
