Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of King George IV facing left, rendered in high relief after the neoclassical manner of engraver Benedetto Pistrucci. The effigy depicts the king with a wreath of laurel leaves bound with a ribbon at the nape, his curled hair flowing beneath. The truncation shows a draped shoulder with a brooch or fibula detail at the collarbone. The peripheral legend reads GEORGIUS IIII DEI GRATIA, disposed around the field with a stop, the whole contained within a toothed or beaded border.
