| 正面描述 | Laureate and draped bust of George II facing left, the king depicted as a mature figure with curled hair bound by a laurel wreath, occupying the majority of the obverse field. The peripheral legend is divided by the effigy, reading GEORGIUS · II · REX · in raised Latin capitals within a beaded border. The portrait is rendered in a bold, high-relief style characteristic of mid-18th century British colonial copper coinage. |

Ireland's copper coinage in the 1740s was issued under patent arrangements managed from London, with the Crown exercising tight control over what small change reached the Irish market. The 1744 farthing falls within a series commissioned to address chronic shortages of low-denomination copper that had plagued everyday commerce in Ireland for decades — shortages exploited extensively by private token issuers in the interim.
Spink 6609 is the second major type of the George II Irish farthing, distinguished from the first by subtle die modifications introduced mid-series.
