Reverse description The reverse displays an eagle-headed harp — on certain die varieties rendered with a hook-fronted form — featuring six strings in the central field. The crown surmounting the harp bears nine jewels. On select die combinations, a privy mark in the form of a cross patée appears at the close of the legend, followed by a stop. The surrounding Latin legend reads FRA ET HIB REX, identifying the king's claims to France and Ireland.
