Obverse description Within an inner beaded circle, a royal crown surmounting two sceptres arranged in saltire, the whole rendered in the bold, somewhat crude style characteristic of early Stuart copper coinage. A Latin legend encircles the device in the outer field, separated from the central motif by the dotted border. The design reflects the royal prerogative token coinage issued under letters patent during the reign of Charles I.
