| Beschrijving voorzijde | Stylized deity figure of Narasimha, the man-lion avatar of Vishnu, rendered in a highly schematic and compact manner characteristic of South Indian gold fanam coinage. The figure appears seated or crouching in the field, with abbreviated limbs and a granular, pellet-bordered surround typical of Mysore hammered gold issues. The diminutive flan restricts detail, but the iconographic motif is consistent with Vaishnava devotional imagery prevalent on Mysore regal coinage of the mid-seventeenth century. |
