Zaman Shah's reign began in 1793 following a brutal succession struggle among the sons of Timur Shah, and his hold on power was never secure. Balkh, as a northern mint city with deep Timurid and Mughal monetary traditions, continued striking copper fulus for local trade while the Durrani court remained preoccupied with both eastern campaigns toward the Punjab and the persistent threat of his brother Mahmud's challenges from within.
Album 3111 covers a loose typological grouping; attribution of individual strikes to specific regnal years depends heavily on epigraphic details that are frequently blurred on copper of this module.
