| Reverse description | The reverse bears a multi-line Persian inscription in Nastaliq script, boldly struck and filling the entire field. The inscription records the name and titles of the ruling Nawab, Wajid Ali Shah, along with the mint name Lucknow and the regnal or Hijri date. The calligraphic rendering is characteristic of Awadh copper coinage, with flowing, deeply incised strokes. The legend is arranged in two or three registers across the coin's surface. |
