Taimur Shah succeeded his father Ahmad Shah Durrani in 1772 and almost immediately relocated the imperial capital from Kandahar to Kabul, a shift that reorganized administrative and minting priorities across the empire. The Ahmadshahi mint — named in honor of the dynasty's founder — continued striking copper fulus for local circulation throughout this transition, serving the everyday commerce that silver rupees and gold mohurs never reached.
Copper coinage of the Durrani period is frequently encountered in poor condition due to the alloy's susceptibility to the alkaline soils of Afghanistan and the northwestern subcontinent. The KM#6 attribution covers the four-year window before Taimur consolidated his minting operations more firmly under his own name.
