Obverse description Central field features a small schematic lion passant in low relief, enclosed within a large cursive Arabic legend that sweeps around the interior of the coin in a bold, fluid Naskh or Shikasta script. The date 1295 (AH) appears in the upper portion of the field. The overall design is characteristically crude and irregular, consistent with the hand-struck provincial coinage of the Balkh mint under Amir Sher Ali Khan.

Reverse description The reverse displays a prominent multi-line Arabic inscription filling the entire field in a bold, flowing Shikasta script, enclosed within a circular linear border. The legends, typical of Afghan provincial coinage of this period, likely reference the mint name Balkh and the regnal title of Amir Sher Ali Khan. The strike is irregular and the flan shows the characteristic uneven edges of a hand-struck copper falus.
