Obverse description Central field bears Arabic calligraphic inscription in Nasta'liq script, reading 'Falus' within a dotted border. The flan is irregular and roughly circular, characteristic of hand-hammered copper coinage of Afghan principalities in the mid-nineteenth century. The script is arranged in two to three lines across the central field, with the lettering in moderate relief against a flat, unadorned ground.
