| Obverse description | Central field occupied by bold Arabic calligraphic legend rendered in raised relief across two registers, separated by a horizontal line. The upper register bears the ruler's name or epithet in flowing Naskh or Tughra-influenced script, while the lower register carries a complementary portion of the royal titulature. The flan is irregular and slightly convex, consistent with hammered coinage of the Gujarat Sultanate period. The coin exhibits a characteristic green cuprite patina over a reddish-brown copper surface. |

Qutb-ud-Din Bahadur Shah ruled Gujarat at a moment of extraordinary pressure — Babur's Mughal invasion of the subcontinent in 1526 forced a complete realignment of regional power, and Bahadur Shah spent much of his reign maneuvering between the collapsing Delhi Sultanate and the expanding Mughal presence to the north. Gujarat remained independent, briefly the most powerful sultanate left standing. Bahadur Shah was ultimately killed in 1537 during a confrontation with the Portuguese off Diu, falling from a ship under disputed circumstances.
