Nimruz, the ancient city in what is now southwestern Afghanistan, functioned as a regional administrative center under the Timurid sphere during the mid-fifteenth century. Local copper coinage of this period was largely a municipal affair — silver and gold circulated through imperial channels while falus filled the gap for small daily transactions in the bazaars.
