Obverse description Hammered copper flan bearing a multi-line Arabic inscription in bold Naskh script occupying the entire field, arranged in horizontal registers. The legend contains the name and titles of Sultan Ahmad Shah I (Nasir ud-Din Ahmad Shah) of Gujarat. A partial circular marginal legend borders the field along the periphery. The die is slightly off-centre, consistent with hand-struck medieval Islamic coinage of the Gujarat Sultanate, with the Hijri regnal year 837 recorded.
