| Obverse description | Hammered copper flan of irregular round shape bearing a three-line Arabic legend in naskh script arranged across the field, divided by a horizontal line. The upper portion carries the royal title and name reading 'al-Sultan / Nasir al-Dunya wa al-Din / Mahmud Shah', with the inscription rendered in bold, raised lettering characteristic of Gujarati sultanate coinage. The flan surface shows typical hammered texture with uneven strike, and the legend is partially flat due to irregular planchet thickness. The overall style is consistent with mid-sixteenth century provincial Islamic coinage of the Deccan region. |
