背面描述 Hammered reverse field entirely occupied by a three-line Arabic legend in raised Naskh script, reading 'Abu al-Fath / Mahmud Shah / al-Sultan', arranged horizontally across the flan. The inscription is rendered in a bold, somewhat angular style characteristic of late Gujarati sultanate copper issues. The coin displays an uneven green and brown patina, with slight weakness at the margins due to the irregular flan and hand-hammered striking technique.

附加信息

Mahmud Shah III's reign over Gujarat stretched across one of the sultanate's most commercially active periods, when Cambay functioned as one of the busiest ports in the Indian Ocean trade network. Portuguese arrival on the Malabar Coast in 1498 fundamentally disrupted the spice routes Gujarat had long dominated, and by the reign's end Mahmud was negotiating — and occasionally fighting — against Lisbon's growing naval presence.

Copper falus of this sultanate are frequently found with significant casting irregularities, a product of decentralized minting that relied on local foundry practices rather than die-struck production methods common elsewhere.
