1 Fals - Zuhayr b. 'Alqama

Zuhayr b. 'Alqama served as governor of Mosul under the late Umayyad administration, and this fals belongs to the chaotic final decade of Umayyad rule — a period when provincial copper coinage was issued with considerable administrative independence. By 745, the Abbasid revolt was already gathering momentum in Khurasan, and governors across the eastern provinces were operating with diminishing central oversight from Damascus.

Album 193 encompasses a narrow window of provincial Umayyad copper. Attribution to specific governors at Mosul for this period relies heavily on die study work done in the late twentieth century.
