| Reverse description | The reverse displays a three-line Arabic legend arranged across the plain field reading محمد / رسول الله / الله, presenting the Shahada declaration 'Muhammad / the Messenger of God / God (Allah)', affirming the Islamic faith of the issuing authority. The inscription is rendered in bold hammered relief with angular, provincial kufic letterforms consistent with Damascene Burid fals coinage of the early 12th century. The flan edge is irregular and uneven, characteristic of the hand-struck 'qirtas' type produced at the Dimashq mint. |
