Nuh II b. Asad ruled the Samanid Emirate at a pivotal moment — the dynasty had only recently consolidated authority over Transoxiana and Khurasan under Abbasid suzerainty, functioning nominally as governors while operating with near-total autonomy. The Khujanda mint, situated on the Syr Darya, served a region that was both a frontier post and a commercial artery connecting Central Asia to the steppe trade routes. Copper fals of this period circulated at the lowest tier of a monetized economy dependent on silver dirhams for serious transactions.
The A#C1442 attribution reflects Album's cataloguing of a type still not fully die-studied.
