| Obverse description | Central field divided into three horizontal registers by double lines, all contained within a beaded inner border and an outer dotted border. The field bears the name and titles of the Seljuk prince Mas'ud b. Qilij Arslan II in bold Kufic Arabic script, with a small pellet or rosette ornament at the apex of the upper register. Two small six-pointed stars flank the upper portion of the inner square. The overall design is characteristic of Anatolian Seljuk hammered copper coinage of the late 12th century. |
