| Obverse description | Central field entirely occupied by a three-line Arabic Kufic inscription reading the first part of the Islamic declaration of faith (Shahada): 'There is no god but God alone, He has no partner.' The script is rendered in angular early Abbasid Kufic style, typical of late 3rd-century AH provincial copper coinage. The flan is irregular and slightly dumpy, with a plain, undecorated border. No figurative imagery is present, in accordance with Islamic numismatic tradition. |

| Reverse description | Central field bearing a three-line Arabic Kufic inscription identifying the Prophet Muhammad and the issuing authority: 'Muhammad is the Messenger of God, Ibn Abi 'Isa, Tarsus.' The legend names the governor Ibn Abi 'Isa and the mint city of Tarsus (Tarsos, in Cilicia), serving as both a religious affirmation and an administrative attribution. The script is in the same angular Kufic style as the obverse, with no decorative border elements. The flan shows the characteristic irregularity of hammered provincial copper issues of the period. |
