The central inscription is surrounded by a dotted inner border. The broad marginal legend carries the Quranic verse from Surat al-Tawba (9:33) in Arabic Kufic script, encircling the field. The flan is irregular and the relief is bold, characteristic of provincial Samanid hammered copper coinage of the 340s AH. |
