Reverse description The central field displays a three-line Arabic inscription in Kufic script naming the issuing authority: 'لله / بكر بن مالك / المطيع لله', attributing authority to God and identifying the governor Bakr ibn Malik with the epithet 'obedient to God'. The central inscription is surrounded by a dotted inner border. The broad marginal legend carries the Quranic verse from Surat al-Tawba (9:33) in Arabic Kufic script, encircling the field. The flan is irregular and the relief is bold, characteristic of provincial Samanid hammered copper coinage of the 340s AH.
